President's Day is what the holiday is called however, the official federal holiday is called "Washington's Birthday". This day honors all of the previous presidents of the United States.

Here are some fun President's Day Facts :

  • Teddy Roosevelt was the youngest man to hold the office of president at 42 years, 10 months, 18 days old .  John F. Kennedy was the youngest president to be elected president.
  • George Washington was the only president unanimously elected. Meaning all of the state representatives voted for him.
  • Benjamin Harrison was the first president to have electricity in the White House and was actually so afraid of being electrocuted, he refused to touch the light switches and was known to go to bed with all the lights on.
  • Despite popular myth, George Washington's dentures weren't made of wood. They were made of hippopotamus ivory, bone, animal and human teeth, lead, brass screws and gold wire.
  • Jefferson  hated public speaking so much that he only gave two speeches in his presidency, one per term.
  • James Madison was the shortest president at 5'4 and only weighed 100 pounds
  • Andrew Jackson had a pet parrot he taught to curse, it actually had to be removed from his funeral due to his language.
  • Harrison gave the longest inauguration speech ever (8,445 words over 90 minutes) on a wet, cold day in 1841. He fell ill soon thereafter and died 33 days into his presidency.
  • Grover Cleveland is the first president to marry while in office, with the youngest first lady at just 21 years old.
  • Richard Nixon loved to bowl so much that he put a one lane bowling alley in the bottom floor of the White House.
