Construction Dewatering Treatment Systems

Construction Dewatering Treatment Systems pre-treat recovered groundwater that contains sediments or other pollutants when non-stormwater or accumulated precipitation must be removed from a work location so construction projects can be accomplished.

Based on the discharge permit and discharge requirements, a Construction Dewatering Treatment System consists of: Holding Tanks, Mechanical Filtration- sand filter and/or bag filters. If the pollutants cannot be removed mechanically the system will also consist of various medias [to remove gasoline hydrocarbons for example].

If untreated water from a Construction Dewatering operation is not properly discharged, it will cause water standards and laws to be violated. To avoid violating water standards on a Construction Dewatering site, the water can be discharged by one of the following ways; Under a NPDES permit to a storm drain, discharges made by agreement to adjacent land or to a facility [AKA disposal to Land under a WDR] , or into a sanitary sewer system. The treated water may also be managed on the Construction Dewatering job site without discharging off site via reinjection, dust control, soil compaction and in some cases for landscape irrigation.

Before a Construction Dewatering Project can begin, an appropriate discharge authorization/permit under the NPDES program, etc. must be obtained.
